Thank you to all the participants for the many beautiful and creative photos. We had quite a discussion before settling on the top three.

1st place Delicate Tip Toe/WellerMade

3rd place Lilith/kyubi09

If anyone has any questions about the constructive comments, please let us know. We enjoyed all the photos but want the contest to help everyone improve their photography skills.

Alice Liddell
With two librarian judges, we were drawn to the beauty of reading and that interpretation of the theme. We like how the AI doll seems to be looking directly at the book. It’s nice that the blue of the background is echoed in the dresses. This photo could have been more effective without the large scale books as the backdrop (especially since one has a very ragged edge to its cover).

Anna
This photo is very charming with a clean, well composed look. Both girls look really cute and we liked that Byul is giving beauty tips to Yeolume (and pouting her lips to show Lume how to apply lipstick). The use of the mirror is quite effective. We did feel that Anna seemed to be less the focus than Lume.

Cerise
The idea of the mirror is good, and the untied shoes a funny touch. The background in the mirror is a bit distracting.

Delicate Tip Toe
We very much enjoyed the humor in this entry, and that Delicate Tip Toe is very dressed up while wearing a bag over her head. We thought this was a great, creative idea and interpretation of the theme. The photo is clean and the message clear.

Delphine
We liked the idea of Byul as Snow White and the use of the props like the mirror (with the evil face) and the bird on Delphine’s hand. It is a bit hard to tell what's going on in this photo, and the Evil Queen steals some of the focus from Delphine.

Fannie
The use of color in this photo is good.  The grey and beige tones compliment Fannie's wig, and all the details in the room make it feel like a real room. The reflection is well done and makes Fannie look like she is lost in thought while brushing her hair. She is working hard at making her beauty shine through.

Fata
Beautiful outdoor scenery, and it’s nice how the sand compliments her stuffie and the water her dress. Her face is a little too much in shadow, making it difficult to see her beauty. It would perhaps have been a better photo if she were turned so her face was partly in sunlight and partly in shadow.

Lela
This is a lovely outdoor setting, and we liked how she is looking back at the viewer of the photo. The large flower over her head is out of scale and a little distracting.

Lilith
We found this photo funny, with good use of props, lighting, a mirror, and another doll. It’s a great photo, but Elisabeth is the focus based on her placement and the lighting. It might have been a more effective entry for a Byul contest if Lilith had been reflected in the mirror.

Lorelai
Lorelai looks very cute with her pony friend. The strong and vibrant colors emphasize her beauty power. Her pony friend's head appears larger than hers and draws the viewer’s  attention away from Lorelai.

Lyris
We loved the pose, the interpretation of the theme, and the use of pink. Something about the placement of her legs is distracting.

Madison
This is a very pretty photo.  We liked all the pastel colors and the way Peachy is looking directly at the viewer but still managed to be beautiful. There is no particular interpretation of the Beautiful theme.

March
We liked the nice outdoor setting and her questioning pose. The bunny ears to match the stuffed bunnies are a nice touch. Her hair is hiding a bit too much of her face.

Mina
Mina manages to look cute and goofy at the same time and she clearly loves animals.
The blurred background really puts the focus on Mina’s beauty. The photo would perhaps have been stronger if taken from a little further away.

Minty Julep
This is a very simple photo that does a great job of making Minty Julep look gorgeous by cleverly using the lollipop to hide Byul's least appealing feature.

Nerissa
Both Nerissa and Gloriana look very sweet and dreamy. It would be more effective without the stray hairs. (Perhaps use a wet paper towel to smooth them down during future photo shoots.)

Penny
We liked the natural setting, the flowers in Penny's hair, and her pose. The photo is clear and crisp and her face is nicely lit.  This one just missed placing in the top three.

Tiger Lily
This is an interesting take on the quality of beauty being more than just a physical trait. The way the photo is set up draws your attention to Tiger Lily there in the center, with Hook nearly out of the frame. It would probably have been more effective without the large Tinkerbell in the background.

Thank you for the award. And thank you for the judges commentary. That makes it more rewarding for all the participants. Of course, I was one of those art students who loved critiques, even when they tore my stuff apart.

Maybe a hairclip? Or us a damp towel to brush it back right before the photo? I love the big mohair wigs on dolls too. So cute.
Very Happy

Love the photo-by-photo feedback, that's such a great learning tool! (And Fannie is thrilled to be in the top 3 with such great company.)
