July: Design an anniversary postage stamp!

Hey everyone!  It's July, and that means it's time for another monthly Daliversary event!  This month's activity is...  a design challenge!  

Your country's postal service has recognized the great value of dolls (lol) and in honour of Dal's 10th birthday they have commissioned a commemorative stamp.  YOU have been chosen to be the designer!  What will you create??

This is open to ANY media -- photograph it, draw it, paint it, quilt it, collage it, anything goes.  Post a picture of your design here.  It should look like a stamp, so you need a country and postage amount on it, but don't worry if you don't have a "proper" scallopy Photoshop border.  Not all stamps have them.  And don't forget, not all stamps are rectangular either.

There will be, I hope, a prize.  I do NOT sew, and you wouldn't want an outfit made by me.  So I ordered something online, and it's already overdue and now we have a postal strike probably starting within days.  I hope before the month ends I'll have something I'll be able to post a photo of.

It's not a talent contest... don't be shy to post your designs.  Every one you post will get you a "ticket" and I will draw a name at the end of the month.  I know it's summer and people have lots to do.  But you have a whole month to design something -- or hopefully several somethings.  Let's see a bunch of nifty postage stamps!  Have fun!

Sounds like an intriguing contest...I hope I can think of something!

...and I should add, if you're not a Photoshopper, there are free image-editing programs that will let you put text on a photo, if you're not drawing. If you have MS Windows, you already have "Paint" -- even that will work. If you have Mac, you probably have something better.

I have no idea what I'm going to do yet, but it still sounds like fun!

July is ticking along... don't forget about this month's Daliversary activity! You don't have to make something super-fancy... You don't even have to take a new photo! And if you're drawing or using some other medium, there's still lots of time to create something.

Finally after 6 weeks in the mail, here is the prize for this month's activity.  It's a really cute little handmade outfit from "Ninabella9" in Thailand.  I will also throw in some colourful hair clips, and these cute little bows, which currently have adhesive dots on them, and could be stuck on hair that way, but could also be sewn onto regular hairclips or clothes.  Plus, this nice bag to keep dolly stuff in.





Petra hopes no one enters.  She would like to keep the prize.

That is a great idea for an anniversary stamp.
And I wish I could mail anything anywhere for 47 cents!

But you can't take off the text or do a portrait oriented one.  Anyone else care to share what you're using?

I just copied and pasted a stamp template like this one (found through Google images):


into Publisher, inserted a photo on top, resized it so the scalloped edges were showing, and used text boxes for the text.

Mine's just a Photoshop frame.  The scallopy traditional edge does add something to a design, but I hope no one will be held back by not having one.  Not all stamps have these either.  The peel-&-stick Canadian stamps now have just blah straight edges.
