I have a couple of questions for Offgenemi...
I've started on the first challenge--the paper dress. Is using cardboard OK? Also, what sort of adhesives are we allowed to use? Glue? Clear tape?

Cardboard is paper product so it is fine. Tape and glue are fine as well. Very curious what you are making

Challenge #1
I am 100% useless at making clothes, for people OR dolls.
So, here is something that looks like it was made by a 4-year-old to prove it.
Making an outfit for a mini sounds like a bit of a cheat because it doesn't have to be very big, but it was kind of hard doing anything with such small pieces of paper. I did try to do some "real sewing" with it but the thread pulled through the paper so I had to use tape. The little rosette thingy is actually stitched together though, with a sequin glued on the front (oops, that's not paper).
Here is Penny with a Christmas-wrap gown & tiara.

"Hey, no peeking!"
(I think she was a bit embarrassed about all the tape in the back.)

I don't know what you're talking about, because that outfit is adorable!

Yes, she looks very cute, and I don't think making a mini outfit is less of a challenge!

Re: October : Project runway
Personally I think making a mini outfit is more of a challenge, because they're just so darn tiny! I stink at sewing for my minis, while sewing for a regular sized doll isn't so bad. I would think working with paper is just as hard.
Penny looks very festive.

Still plugging along. Here are some WIP shots of the paper dress I'm making. I'm finding it a challenge to making the idea that's in my head come to life. I hit some snags here and there, but I think by far, the biggest problem is finding the time. One of my flaws is underestimating the amount of time I need to complete something. Anyway....here are some pictures of what I have done so far. I hope to have a photo of the completed dress posted tomorrow sometime. Or Monday.

Re: October : Project runway
Finally finished the first challenge--Paper Dress. I used tissue paper for gift wrapping mostly, but also cardboard for the headband base, glue, clear tape, & needle and thread. If the colors of the outfit don't exactly "match", apologies--I just used whatever I had in my gift wrapping supply stash. There are more photos in my flickr account here:

It was fun but a bit more challenging than I had thought. I could have revised my plan, but I really wanted to finish it up once I started...
Now I'm excited to get started for the next challenge.

Wow! Love those ruffles. I would never guess the whole outfit was paper if I didn't know.

That's fantastic
It looks every bit as nice as the schmancy Barbie ball-gowns one sees on eBay.

Wow, that came out really nice! I would have thought it was fabric if I didn't know otherwise. Great job!
And you've set the bar high for the rest of us.

Great job. I'm thinking I've either totally demotivated, or I may have to step up my construction, with actual sewing now being used with the paper.

Re: October : Project runway
Don't worry or feel pressured - my paper dress will be pathetic, I'm pretty sure.
Re: October : Project runway
Wow that is an amazing dress Kirakira! I knew you guys would make great dresses! Next challenge will be a bit easier or let's say less time consuming

CHALLENGE #3
This challenge is a bit different from the first two. half of the project runway challenges where design but the other half is how you style the model. They spent a few hours at hair and make up, choosing accessories and of course attitude of the model at cat walk.
Designers we would like to see your models styled to represent an astrological sign of your choosing. For this challenge you don't have to make clothes but rather spend your time on combining different pieces together to make your vision come through
however if you make an outfit for this challenge let us know so we can consider it during voting

Re: October : Project runway
So to be clear...for challenge #3, we don't have to make an outfit, but we could if, for example we don't have any suitable clothing pieces to represent an astrological sign?

Thank you for the compliments on my paper dress. After all the time spent on it, Tekka-Maki will be wearing it until it rips/disintegrates, which I don't want to even think about happening.

Kirakira yes exactly, I didn't want to exclude people who doesn't like sewing
Tekka Maki is a lucky girl. I am sure it is a pretty durable dress.
