Re: May: May Celebrations
Packing 3 into one -- looks like Maffick knows how to celebrate.
(That might be a fun challenge -- who can depict the most observances in one photo! )
May 30 is Water A Flower Day.
All our flowers are inside, so...

Re: May: May Celebrations
Hi kids! How did they like the series finale?
Well that was weird... I was going to post this photo earlier and the forum was gone. I got the home page for "make a free forum". I hope it was just maintenance downtime... I wonder about some of the ads on here and is it safe, because my antivirus crapped out... (too many glitches)
Anyway, May 29 is Learn About Composting Day. I had to do this anyway, on the one day in a week it isn't raining, so, Janice & Ika might as well help, right?

Re: May: May Celebrations
Believe me, I had total panic when I came to the DHF yesterday and got only the forum motion home page! They must have been doing some site maintenance. If you can manage to stay logged in you should not be seeing ads.
Anyway, composting day - modeling is such a life of glamour!

Re: May: May Celebrations
Thank you both Canada has the same National Bike Month, I think.
Two-for-one here; May 6 is No Diet Day and the 11th is Eat What You Want Day.
Yeah, we can celebrate that!
Still time to get photos in, everybody!

Re: May: May Celebrations
A lot of rain here, too. Although it does give me an excuse to stay inside and sew for PUDDLE, instead of doing yard work.

This one is for fellow librarian KiraKira, from a list of (sadly, made up) librarian holidays. Also for Allie Cat.

Re: May: May Celebrations
Of course!
And more importantly, THANK YOU to dargosmydaddy, alliecat, and TrueFan for all those fun and adorable entries.
This is what I came up with:
dargosmydaddy--8 entries
alliecat--9 entries
TrueFan--4 entries
If that sounds accurate, I'll go put that same number of slips of paper in a bowl and pick one at random. (Or use an online random name picker) and announce the winner.

I love her blue hair too.
(Wait, there's a list??)
dargos, that's cute! I feel just like she does some days!
Yes, mahalo to Kirakira for running the challenge. So many more holidays I'd like to have done but my photo queue is rather long already at the moment! It was fun thinking of ideas for those 'unusual' holidays.
(Ooo, weird stuff going on with the forum?, or is it my browser. Showing broken-link images for all the emoticons on the right and the links on the left.)

Here is the list:

I'm not seeing any weirdness - hopefully it has cleared up.

Sadly, we're not allowed to read at work--our branch manager won't let us. We can read on our lunch break, though. This explains why my "To Read" list is ever-growing.

Re: May: May Celebrations
We don't normally read at work either. But so many people think we do! And my To Read list is ever growing also because three times a month I have to read a book for book club, usually books I would not choose to read on my own.KiraKira wrote:TrueFan wrote:This one is for fellow librarian KiraKira, from a list of (sadly, made up) librarian holidays. Oh my goodness! I feel bad winning two months in a row...
As for reading at work, I worked at my college library when I was an undergrad and would occasionally sneak a book when it was a slow day and my supervisor wasn't around... I was supposed to be shelving and would kind of keep a book open on a nearby shelf and wander over and read a page or two and then shelve a little, and then sneak another page or two... library delinquency....

Re: May: May Celebrations
Congrats, dargosmydaddy
We are usually too busy to sit and read, but I do a bit while packing inter-library loans if something I'm mailing looks interesting, or on the occasional slow night when no one comes in and everything else is mostly done. Since I'm often on my own covering someone else's absence, I can get away with it.
That's a fun list, too.
