February: Ode to Dal - write Dal a poem!
The first anniversary event will be a poetry writing celebration! Celebrate Dal by writing a poem. It can be a haiku, a limerick, a sonnet, free verse - anything you want! It can be in any language.
Post it here (and anywhere else you want) for all to read and enjoy. What do you love about Dal? What is special about her? What are her quirks and annoying habits? Consider Dal to be your muse.
You will receive one virtual raffle ticket for each poem you post. Tickets will be drawn at the end of the year for prizes.
The last day to post your poem is February 29 at midnight.

It doesn't look like Fiori is excited about her birthday! Do we post our entries to this thread?

Ha, that was the only poem-related Dal photo I had. It's from 2007! Yes, post your poems here!

Here's a quick haiku...it's all I can do right now. (Still heartbroken about that stupid Super Bowl game).
Eyes that never close,
Dal can't see why her brother
spends time with Pullip.

Dal can't see why her brother
spends time with Pullip.

That sounds great Kira Kira!! I especially liked the , "Eyes that never close," part.
I am not good at poetry but I'll give it a try.

Sorry about the Super Bowl loss, KiraKira, but you Haiku is most appropriate.

Why does Brother date

Good one, snowy!

And another one...
Alas, why must Dal
be once again stuck with those
animal outfits?

I like the simplicity of haikus. But I'm not sure I can raise my brain beyond limericks these days.
There once was a doll with a pout;
Her lower lip always stuck out.
She often looked grumpy,
Though never quite frumpy;
Miss Dal is unique, there's no doubt.

I like your limerick, Alliecat. I'm trying to come up with one too...but having to deal with two additional lines, and rhymes at that, it's not as easy as a haiku.

First releases Monomono, DRTA & Fiori
Earned prestige as The Original Dal Three!
Deep, dark closets they're stored in
by doll collectors a-hoardin'!
It sure does suck to be NRFB.

I'll jump on the haiku bandwagon...
Don't make me smile
A girl can pout if she wants
I'm still beautiful
I have another one in the works, but it depends on the pronunciation/ syllable count of "Byul"... in my head, it rhymes with "jewel" (so one syllable), but I suppose it could rhyme with "vile" (two syllables)... help!

I like your haiku.
Pretty sure Byul is one syllable, pronounced byool, so rhymes with jewel.

dargosmydaddy, I like your haiku, and I think KiraKira is right about the pronunciation of Byul.
Re: February: Ode to Dal - write Dal a poem!
Just wanted to say - if anyone wants to try a "visual" poem to Dal, go for it!
Re: February: Ode to Dal - write Dal a poem!
Oh good, the one-syllable pronunciation works with the haiku I had in mind:
Pullip gets the boys
And all the adulation
At least I'm not Byul
Pullip gets the boys
And all the adulation
At least I'm not Byul

I'm enjoying all the creative entries. So far, I've got nothing. But the month isn't over yet.
