Challenge II: ORANGE – Deadline MIDNIGHT August 23

Challenge II is ORANGE. You can convey the idea of the color, or feature an item or background that is the color, or, of course, tropical fruit can be involved, or TANG, because it's what the astronauts drink, or... well, you get the drift! Use your creativity and most importantly have fun!

Please post your photo here by midnight (anywhere in the world) on Sunday, 8/23. That is, midnight Sunday night, so technically, the morning of Monday the 24th.

(And if you're running a few days late, well, I will be too, so that deadline is more of a guideline.)

I added mine to the Flickr group simply because I’m on my phone and can’t figure out how to add my entry here.  That can wait until I can get to my PC. and put it here as well.

Mine involved the fruit, just like dargosmydaddy’s entry—great minds think alike, haha.



All of these entries are cute!  I love Skirr’s outfit and the chair, cat, and cushions.  
I’m impressed with Dallis—she’s surrounded by orange!
And the dark look of applecandy’s girl gives great contrast to the pops of orange  and green in the background.

Maybe the deer don't like orange, because these are some of the few they've left alone (so far; sigh).

Are those marigolds? Most animals don't seem to like marigolds. Very cute.

Lipoca is back, and she is nearly ready to pass harsh judgment on the Orange Round. Brace yourselves.

Lipoca is finding the math involved in scoring this round to be extremely complex. As with gymnastics and ice skating scores at the Olympics, there is no avoiding a subjective element, and the differences among the photos are coming down to fractions of a point.

ORANGE ROUND COMPETITION RESULTS:

Alliecat's pic: What a cute little face, with those grey eyes! The variety of orange flowers is quite cheerful, contrasting beautifully with the rich green foliage. The shadows in the background help accentuate the foreground figure and her flowers.

CornflowerBlue's pic: Gah! M&M's, a real favorite around here! Even the gigantic-sized bags rarely last long! And holding the orange candies on her eyes, as though to pay the ferryman to cross the River Styx, holds significant appeal for Lipoca, 'cuz she's in to stuff like that. Nice orange (red + yellow = orange) pattern on the cute turtleneck dress, and the pale orange in the background pattern indicates that a lot of thought went in to this composition.

KiraKira's pic: So much orange! And so many oranges! And orange pumpkin candies! And... an orange... pilgrim Witchfinder General hat? Whatever the hat is, it's very Hallowe'en-ish, which is always appealing to the judges. Well, to these particular judges. Bonus points for striped socks (which is kind of an ongoing "thing" on another forum).

Truefan's pic: Okay, that retro style orange chair totally rocks! As do the space age triangular pillows! An' wook at da grumpy li'l kitty! Lovely autumnal leaf design on the adorable model's frock. (And while it's not orange, can we mention that amazing silvery hair? Where's the heart-eyes emoji?) Is it actually snowing in this pic? The interesting background texture certainly creates a believable snowfall effect.

dargosmydaddy's intensely orange orangeyness is breathtaking in its overall orangerageousness! Bright orange dress! Bright orange oranges! Bright orange backdrop... is that a paisley pattern? And orange stripey socks! Even a hint of orange in that pretty blonde hair! Don't know if that's a reflection or an actual orange streak. Definitely a top contender based on the sheer number of orange elements!

applecandy's pic: Oooh, spooky and fun, with an artistically understated orange element! This is really quite clever, contrasting the goth girl (those shiny black boots! Über-squeeee!) with fading foliage and muted orange... fruits? Flowers? Seed pods? Whatever they are, those fruit-flower-pod thingies convey a melancholy sense of summer fading in to autumn. We're counting the rusty fence as an orange element, too. +1 for orange tinted chemical reactions!

Wow, thank you all! I'm so glad you appreciated my photo. Those are passion fruits, they grew up in summer and maybe they bloom in spring! The flowers look gorgeous. The fruits taste quite sweet.

Dang. Can't even get my passionflower plant to bloom (indoor). What's the secret??

Great job on the announcement, too! I did not know goths in trees is a real thing with a website and Facebook page.
