August: Make Happiness Happen photo challenge

Happy August, everyone! Looks like I'm up again. I've been focusing a lot on my mental health for some months now, and since August is Happiness Happens Month, let's focus on things that make you and your Dals happy! Happiness is contagious and it doesn't cost anything to share it. Who doesn't need to be more happy?!

This challenge is really free-form, and just requires photos that depict your dolls and the things that make them and/or you happy. You can highlight anything that fits in this concept, and maybe we can learn a little something about you in the process.

Any other dolls are welcome to be in the photo(s), as long as a Dal is there too. You may post as many photos as you have time for, and the deadline to get at least one entry in is August 31. Post your photos directly to this topic. Each photo counts as an entry into the drawing for a prize at the end of the month. If you have any questions, please feel free to either post them here in the thread, or send me a PM.

This is a great challenge! I know I took a photo of the second gift you are donating, KiraKira, but I can't find the photo. I will have to take another one!

I love seeing all the different things that make people happy.

dargosmydaddy--that is a very cool vintage typewriter despite its non-functionality! I haven't seen one of those in ages. LaRue looks very carefree--flowers make me happy too.

Alliecat--Samantha certainly looks very princessy. I agree that every month should be "Make Happiness Happen" month.

TrueFan--I like Luminescence's green hair! Her bright pink dress goes great with it!

I really like your girl's butterly/fairy wings, Alliecat. And I may be weird, but washing dishes by hand is the one chore that makes me happy. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

One of these days, I hope to get to a doll convention, TrueFan. All the people in your photo look quite happy! Also, I imagine the colorful feed is a real treat for the birds. Lucky.

I've sadly been so so so busy with real life, that I can't even participate in my own challenge.


My two kids have started at their new schools--one started in middle school, and the other started high school. I drive them to school in the morning as it's on my way to work, but the traffic just getting out of the school parking lots is enough to make me wanna cry. Driving definitely isn't making happiness happen for me. The high schooler is also in band, and since he's not old enough to drive, I have to also collect him after school football games which sometimes don't end until after 11pm. (I'm old, that's after my ideal bedtime--lack of sleep absolutely does nothing for my happiness).

Right now, this represents happiness for me:



Laying about on the sofa with nothing to do. The whole place all to myself. No appointments to keep, chores all done, kids at their friends' houses. A fresh day, a blank slate, endless possibility.

Aw, love her little couch. Hope things get better for you, KiraKira... maybe when football season ends?
