Re: PUDDLE 2023
I hope it is a theme with lots of possibilities - both poles but also winter generally, snow, Christmas, all the polar animals (polar bears, artic foxes, penguins, whales, narwhals). If someone isn't into all that anything that involves opposites!jahzteen wrote:this is such a cute theme. is it about the arctic/antarctic?
Re: PUDDLE 2023
That's pretty flexible. I hope to be able to work up enough mojo to participate during that time The last time I participated was a cranes themed year, which was ages ago.

Polar opposites? So, like, a Haunted Library vs a Not Haunted Bookstore?

Re: PUDDLE 2023
What was the most popular PUDDLE theme ever?
Which PUDDLE was the most heavily attended?
Which PUDDLE would you say was the most successful overall?
Which PUDDLE would you say was the most fun overall? I realize that, as the primary organizer, you might not be having "fun" per se; but based on attendee feedback, was there one year that stands out?

Most popular? Hard to say. Every theme has people who love it and people who don't. Steampunk was beloved by some and head-scratching for others. My personal favorite theme was Space!
The most heavily attended is and will remain Tea Party, the 10th PUDDLE. We opened up registration to more people and had 165 attend, which was too many. We now cap attendance at 148. Tea Party was "the most successful" but also far and away the most stressful for me.
Rainbows was particularly memorable - it really hit a sweet spot of being an established event but still intimate. The last two have also been especially fun, because with the pandemic I've sort of felt like whatever happens, happens.
Thanks for asking!
These are the themes so far:
2008 – no theme
2009 – water, puddles
2010 – turtles
2011 – cranes
2012 – stars with five points representing five years
2013 – owls (came in second in 2012 poll, first for 2013)
2014 – rainbows (seven colors for seven years of PUDDLE)
2015 – Fairy Tales
2016 – Space (astronauts, planets, space travel, fandoms such as Sailor Moon, Dr Who, Star Trek)
2017 – Tea Party (to celebrate the 10th PUDDLE)
2018 – The Spell of the Sea
2019 – 12th PUDDLE, steampunk (12 numbers on a clock), The Clock Strikes Twelve
2020/2021 – The Haunted Library, PUDDLE the 13th
2022 – Magical Candy Thunderstorm (kawaii, cute, colorful, candy, pastels, Magical Girls)

Thank you for taking the time to respond! This is a fun glimpse in to PUDDLE for someone, like me, who has never been.
I'm impressed that PUDDLE has been so successful and popular that you've had to cap attendance!
Best of luck for PUDDLE the FIFTEENTH!

If I were physically in the USA I would go crazy buying at these conventions.
Oddly I had never been really excited or envious about any of the Blythecons, unless I have a friend attending with me (▔∀▔) I feel a little guarded when it comes to that community overall

Believe me, I do go crazy buying. It's so nice to be able to buy clothing for Dal and Pullip that you can see in person.jahzteen wrote:If I were physically in the USA I would go crazy buying at these conventions.

The Blythe community is not the Pullip community, that's for sure. But there is a lot of crossover. I'm going to BlytheCon in Cincinnati with CornflowerBlue in August.
Re: PUDDLE 2023
Yeah you can see them in person and get your hands on them immediately without waiting for the post! That's wonderful! Wishing you both a nice time! I'll be looking forward to pics of the event ^_^
