October : Project runway
Designers, I will be posting different challenges every Sunday. I hope we all bring out our creativity
I will follow most of the regular project runway rules.
Except there is not limit on time. You have till the end of the month to finish any of the challenges.
I will make a poll for each challenge and the forum members will decide who wins
Winner of each challenge will get a gift from me
Here is challenge #1
Designers, this week we want you to design a dress that is made of paper or paper products. You can not use any fabric, but you can use regular sewing supplies such as thread, Velcro and etc.
You can use the supplies you have at home but if you need to purchase anything for this challenge you can't spend more than 10 dollars.
Don't forget to style your doll , half of the project runway is about styling I am very excited!
Make it work!

Re: October : Project runway
It sounds like fun, but also very challenging! I will try to participate, but since I have so many other things to work on for Halloween (both work and at home), I might be pressed for time.

The paper outfit was new this year at PUDDLE, the night before. It seemed quite popular.Offgenemi wrote:I will give a few ideas to make it less challenging. i think at PUDDLE there is a similar activity right ?
Re: October : Project runway
I didn't participate in the contest at PUDDLE, so I'm definitely going to try to do this one! But not this week, so I'll be off to a slow start.

truefan those girls are so lucky to have these paper dresses great inspiration! thank you
I made a simple dress to inspire you guys. it is really not that hard. it takes much less time than actually making a dress.

Re: October : Project runway
I'm planning to...I just have to get started. I have the supplies I'm going to use, but haven't quite found the time to work on the idea that's in my head. Things always pop up and cut into my spare time...

Challenge # 2
Maybe this challenge would sound a bit easier it is fun for sure.
In one my fav episodes of project runway they took the designers to a flower shop and told them they can use anything in the store. They we allowed to use muslin underneath the flower. We won't make it that hard also remember you don't need to make Velcro/ button / snap closures , it just needs to look like a functional dress
In this challenge we would like you to make an outfit that is made of floral components. It can be a dress made of completely flowers, moss, leaves or mixTure of them. You can use the real flowers or fabric/ silk / plastic / paper kind. Anything that is related to a floral shop is fair game

This one sounds like fun, too! And I have a bunch of leftover silk flower stuff I can use.

CB I am looking forward to see your creation
To give a bit of inspiration I made one
I used a very simple muslin fabric to make the base dress. it is basically a tube dress. so first measure on the doll.
The dal house October challenge # 2 by goche moche, on Flickr
i got a piece a bit bigger than I needed but if you cut 4-4 1/2 inches to 3 1/2 inches piece you should be ok.
The dal house October challenge # 2 by goche moche, on Flickr
I hem the edges casually because no one will see these parts. i put a snap as closure for my convenience.
The dal house October challenge # 2 by goche moche, on Flickr
then I took the fabric leaves i have and put them in an order i like then stitched them on the simple dress. i stitched these leaves only at the top part of the dress close to the edge of the dress. so they are freely flowing at the bottom. depending on the image you want to create you can try to sew them on at different parts.

this dress became heavy to i put one strap on the dress using a satin rat tail ( yep beautiful name). then I embellished it with mushroom and a paper flower hair accessory
i will try to take her photos after work in the garden i guess this can be her halloween dress she looks like a forest creature

Oh! I will have to try and work on this one. It doesn't need to be completed each week does it? October ends up being so busy.
Nevermind. Reread, and caught the time limit.
