Thank you for the compliments on my paper dress. After all the time spent on it, Tekka-Maki will be wearing it until it rips/disintegrates,...
Indeed she should! Penny's is going in the bin!

Challenge #2--Flower Dress
Here's my flower dress...with Misa the DRTA as the model. I felt like her blushy face-up really matched the autumn tones of the outfit. I have more photos in my flickr album:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/justlikewasabi/albums/72157674050569551
For this one, I used a glue gun, fake flowers, floral wire, ribbon, tulle and the a foam half-sphere form used for flower arranging. I had to purchase the tulle ($0.32 in the remnant bin), and the half-sphere foam form ($1.11). Fortunately I had everything else at home.
What I did was make a hole in the foam so that Misa's body (from the waist down) would be able to fit. I wrapped her in the tulle scrap and then fit the foam form over that. Then I deconstructed the flowers and started gluing the petals in layers over the foam 'skirt' of the dress. The circlet on her head is just some floral wire covered in some of the fake leaves from the fake flowers I had, and some ribbon entwined around it.
The dress looks very full...I think if I had to do this one over, I'd opt for a slightly smaller foam form.

Yeah "wow". That's such a cute flower dress, and again you obviously put a lot of work into it. She looks ready for a tropical-themed ballet

Re: October : Project runway
Thanks again for the compliments. This dress was easier than the first one since I really didn't have to do any sewing. I'm much better with a glue gun than I am with a needle and thread.

Re: October : Project runway
Sorry for the late comment! That's an awesome challenge project! You guys are so creative!
I don't know if I could come up with anything. So busy right now with the kids, their school projects and of course work as usual... but this sounds like fun and I really want to participate!
Do we post pictures here on this forum/thread? Or do we have to post somewhere else?

Re: October : Project runway
One more question please: Is it ok to use more than one DAL doll as model or do we have to use the same doll for each challenge?
Because I don't have much time so I was going to style and dress them gradually and take the photos when they are all done. If I use only one doll, it would have to undress her, restyle etc and take photos at each time.

Re: October : Project runway
I've also been using a different Dal for each challenge...I just figured we could since it wasn't specified otherwise...

The paper dress
OK I wish this had come out better. I might redo later, but time has not been on my side this month. Where did October go?!
Anyway here is my paper dress challenge. I finished it, and amidst many standing/posing issues trying desparately not to rip the dress I finally thought, she kinda makes me think of Danerys from Game of Thrones. Elegant, but slightly risque.
So this is LuAlice, Mother of Kaiju.

Here is a photo of just the dress.

Eehh, it was intentionally crumpled on the ends of her shoulder pieces and I cut it up roughly. The idea was meant to be floaty and ethereal, but just looks a bit messy. Sadly Tissue paper is very directional when being ripped, so it wouldn't tear beautifully on these particular pieces.

Kira Kira I'm beyond impressed by your blue gown with ruffles!
and I love the flower dress you made too!
Kyubi! I love the game of thrones reference
Offgenemi, I hope to be able to join in on the fun!
I haven't had any time to myself at home for weeks! But soon I hope.

Re: October : Project runway
What True said. I really should have picked a girl with less hair for that challenge. Lesson learned. Now that I've got some flowers, I will need to convince Edge or Tezca to relinquish their punky looks for a little while and put on something a little more floral. (They're the girls out on display currently.)

Re: October : Project runway
kyubi, she looks great, I thought she looked futuristic maybe due to her striking make up but yes her clothes definitely look like "Danerys from Game of Thrones". onyl she is more fierce!
everybody is coming up with their own versions, I am glad you guys are taking the time to do such tedious work, thank you!
Mina i know you were traveling and a few other members are busy as well. I hope whomever wants to participate can find time to join.
now for the final challenge (#4)
designers pur pretty girl Dal will go to a very important red carpet event which happens to be her 10th anniversary party. there is no limit to what material you can use. you can stitch, glue, tape, knit, etc. dont forget to style your girl appropriately!
(PS:you can choose whichever dal doll as your muse)

Challenge #3
This is my Challenge #3 dress--the astrological symbol outfit. I chose "Capricorn", which is typically represented by a sea-goat, in other words, a goat with the tail of a fish. I wanted to do a mermaid-style evening gown, so I used about a yard of sparkly tulle in a pretty shade of blue-green. I used some shells to accent Moe's cardboard goat-horn headband as well as on parts of the dress.

So...just one more challenge to go. While I'm sad that this event is coming to an end, perhaps that is a good thing as I am almost out of Dals!

While watching the Cleveland Indians win game 3 of the World Series, I started working on my floral outfit for the Project Runway Challenge #2 at the Dal House Forum. I'm determined to finish at least one of these challenges!
