Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2021
Well, I guess if you had a shelf for the boxes, to display them on, you could carefully take the figures out of the boxes to play with and then store them back there on the shelf. It would be a good solution against dust.
That's a great setup with the head in the jar!
Nice to see ADAD up and running again.

Here's a de-boxing for ya:
29 June - A Doll A Day 2021:
29 June - "Oooh, look! Drawings of us!"
Numbered limited editions or not, I was going to discard the absurd quantity of packaging in which these new Kid Kreations New Sindy dolls arrived... until I discovered the adorable drawings inside the lids!
Nearly the entire contents of the enormous boxes in which these dolls are packaged consists of... more boxes. All the accessories for the two dolls fit neatly in a sandwich-size Ziploc bag.
"That's it? That's all we get?"
The dolls arrived in a plain brown shipping box, in which was an outer box featuring the Sindy logo. Inside the Sindy-logo box was a fancy glossy box, pink and silver, wrapped in Sindy-logo tissue paper. The glossy box was labeled with the doll version: City Chic and Weekender in this case. Inside the glossy box (which has the cute drawings on the inside lid) was another layer of heavy tissue paper, almost like waxed paper. The doll and stand were wired to a cardboard liner inside the glossy box. In addition to the cardboard liner were three additional small cardboard boxes containing the accessories: a handbag in one, a little paper magazine in another, and a gold necklace for one doll (single piece of chromed plastic) and sunglasses for the other. There was also a cardboard identification card, wrapped in plastic, denoting the "limited edition" number of each doll. Out of a limited number of 1,963 (the year Sindy was introduced; clever, huh?), one of these dolls was 1000-something and one was 500-something.
It just occurred to me now that it would have been interesting to weigh the contents of the boxes and then weigh the empty boxes. I suspect the mass of the packaging material is greater than that of the contents.
I'll keep the glossy boxes with the illustrated lids, but the rest of the stuff has gotta go! It's not like I'm ever gonna sell these things, and the long-term cost of storing all the packaging material would probably exceed any potential future profit anyway.
I doubt there will be any future profit. Of the six New Sindy limited edition releases, only one has sold out; and it's not one that I have.

It’s kind of like they are designed for people who like to debox; by having tons of little packages to open it draws out the suspense.

Makes it seem like you're actually getting something for the money you spent, I guess.

1 July - A Doll A Day 2021:
1 July - TBLeague Vampirella - Caroline Munro Edition
The comic book character Vampirella was created by the staff of Warren Publications in 1969. By the early 1970s the character had become popular enough that planning began for a live-action motion picture. Actress Caroline Munro, known for her eye-catching roles in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films, was initially tapped for the starring role. Unfortunately, the project never progressed beyond the early pre-production stages. Munro dropped out, other actresses were cast before also leaving the project, and the project eventually collapsed, but not before various "teaser" advertisements had appeared in the film industry press as well as in several Warren Publications magazines.
This TBLeague version of the Vampirella character is based on the movie that never was starring Caroline Munro. The box art closely duplicates the pre-production advertising and poster art mock-ups from the unproduced film, and the head sculpt for the figure is based on the actress.
Uncharacteristically, I almost immediately opened the parcel upon arrival, at least partially. The large shipping box felt somewhat lighter than I would have expected relative to its size, so I wanted to make sure the contents were correct. I have yet to unbox the actual figure. Who knows when, or if, that will happen. The way things have been going in the seamless market over the past year or so, it might be worthwhile to set the box aside and wait until the initial run is sold out. Some of the TBLeague figures escalate to astonishing prices shortly after the initial stock is sold.
However, this particular figure seems to be lingering on the market longer than others. I suspect the optimum "target demographic" for this particular character, and especially for this version of the character, has aged out of the actively collecting phase. In a few years, if not already, those who were teens and early twenty-somethings in the mid-1970s will be selling off their collections; or trying to, only to discover that the former '90s kids, as they reach peak earning power, prefer Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Care Bears over relics from the '70s like Vampi... or Darth Vader. Only a few oddball fans of kitschy old movies, magazines, and comic books might be interested.
Meaning... I'll eventually open Vampi-Caroline, probably some time prior to Halloween (which is already coming our way at mind-boggling speed).

4 July - Screaming Head
On the website where I found this action figure head - for cheap - it is identified as "Screaming Head." Apparently there are certain words, phrases, and names that can no longer be used online, even on hobby websites specializing in historical and military figures, for fear of being "de-platformed."

A circa 2000 release, but a recent eBay acquisition for me. Pre-owned but complete... to go with my pre-owned but incomplete example. Double the firepower, double the fun, right?
Even with this impressive weaponry at his disposal, poor ol' Joe will likely find himself overrun and displaced by Sindy, Pullip, and Monster High.
Oh, and Maxie. Maxie says "don't forget Maxie." But rumor has it that Sindy will be assigning Maxie to the first wave of the assault, so...

7 July - Spotted On The Ground
Funny thing, I was thinking about Beany Babies just a couple of days ago. The Beany Baby fad. The Beany Baby craze. The Beany Baby madness. The Beany Baby investment bubble. Are Beanie Babies still around? Is Ty still around? Or was this, like, some kind of archaeological relic from the distant past (pop-culturally speaking) brought to the surface by geologic upheaval and revealed by the erosional forces of wind and rain? Well, wind, as we haven't had any rain here in months.

A relic!
They are still around, though. I think it's "Beanie Boos" now.

Man, I've missed a lot of a doll a day photos. Between PUDDLE and vacation - whew. Zappa, how exciting!

Well, you've maybe missed several photos, but you haven't really missed much, if you know what I mean.
But Zappa... yeah! Once the weather cools down enough for me to have the energy to de-box her, I think she'll be fun!
