2 June - Works in Progress
Lots of works, but very little progress. Seems like the "I really need to get around to that" pile keeps growing without slowing.

3 June - A Doll A Day 2021:
3 June - Uncomfortably Doll-Like
City Chic Sindy, a "limited edition of 1963" from the Sindy Collectors Club, appears uncomfortably self-conscious about her dollishness.
Once the moddest of the mods, today Sindy is largely a nostalgic relic of a bygone era.

8 June - A Doll A Day 2021:
8 June - Hasbro Action Man Jungle Dart - circa 1996
Hasbro Action Man Jungle Dart - carton back panel
Hasbro Action Man Jungle Dart - figure close-up
A few members on action figure forums have suggested substituting trimmed down barbecue skewer sticks for the included soft blow-gun darts, saying they work very well and are capable of "sticking in to" targets.
Action figure fandom: it's like never growing old; or at least, never growing up!

Too much variety, maybe. I'm thinking I would be better off were I to narrow my focus significantly. Like, maybe back to just Pinky Street.

10 June - A Doll A Day 2021:
10 June - Sweet Sixteen
Hard to believe my little girl is turning sixteen years old! Still not old enough to drink... legally... but... sixteen years old!
Pinky-Street PK009 Reina's actual birthday, based on her first appearance in my Flickr photostream, is next month, 12 July. Her "older sister" PK005 Kokoro's birthday is coming up on 29 June.
I think I'll need to schedule a Sweet Sixteen party!

I'm digging those Action Man men!
I used to have a huge variety in my collection. Dal changed that. I've still got a lot of different kinds of dolls but it's not like it used to be.

Those Dals are aggressively territorial, huh?

11 June - Battle-Scarred Veteran
I spotted this sad, forgotten soldier in the parking lot of the town dump today. Alas, he was beyond saving, but he received a proper and dignified burial. Or... he will, once the truck comes and hauls the dumpster contents to the landfill.

Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2021
We are just starting construction on a new library, and they digging up the ground under the old buildings. One of our board members is there every day and mentioned finding a lot of nice glass bottles. I told him I called dibbs on any doll heads that are found!

You should be out there with your co-worker! You never know what you might find! I have not yet found a doll head as I traipse about through the sagebrush, but I ran across a fragment of a bisque doll foot a couple of years ago in what appeared to be an old dump site. I was even able to approximately date the find from the fragments of an old soda bottle at the site. Soda bottles and coffee cans are fairly easy to find and date online, and the broken soda bottle dated to between 1900 and 1915, which would fit the time period in which dolls of this type were popular.

Wow. Interesting find. You wonder whose it was, what their life was like. Didn't know you could date bottles & coffee cans online, haha. Kind of sad to see forgotten broken toys though.

The site is uber dangerous right now. Holes a story deep. I doubt I'd be allowed onsite, and I'd be worried if I were.

13 June - A Doll A Day 2021:
13 June - Backstage
After reading all about the recent Pullip and Dal Lovers Event (PUDDLE), I've been wanting to snap a Pullip pic for the past few days, but the Pullips are largely inaccessible at the moment. Similarly, I've had an urge to take some Pinky Street photos using different figures, but they, too, are packed away, more challenging to reach than the Pullips. Instead, then, we get a no-effort pic of the cast and crew who are currently twiddling their thumbs backstage.

I'm totally cheating today and posting an old photo from the archives. I'll make up for it tomorrow... so I'm telling myself today... by posting two brand new pictures.
But for now... I'm gonna go take a nap or something.

I like Sindy's dynamic pose. And it's so funny that this wasn't a planned setup; maybe they've been moving around when you're not looking....???

for a body that has arms that don't fall off!"
25 June - "Two months? I've been waiting since last November to

27 June - A Doll A Day 2021:
27 June - Playing Mantis Doctor Evil as Ming the Merciless
Sometimes the packaging is nicer than the figure. Sometimes the figure loses a lot of its appeal once removed from the packaging. Then what do you do?
Plus, this figure is over twenty years old, having been released in 1998 or 1999. I feel guilty when I open mint-in-box toys that are over a quarter of a century old.
But... I bought it to open. I bought it to use the figure and some of the accessories in my photo-story projects. And... even though it is mint-in-package and over twenty years old, these things are a dime a dozen on the secondary market. Well, not quite a dime a dozen, but you can find plenty of them on eBay for about thirty bucks (US money); including shipping, if you're patient. So it's not like opening the box will deprive the future of a rare and valuable collectible. In the future, probably fewer people will be interested than care about them now, so the value is just as likely to decline over time.
However, it's a really nice box. But I don't really have the space to store a bunch of cardboard doll boxes.
Decisions, decisions! I often find this doll and toy hobby to be frustrating, with little things like de-boxing causing me significant stress.
Maybe I need to get some real problems in life to put things like this in to perspective.
No... wait... bad bad BAD idea! Don't wanna do that! Don't even wanna joke about that! The last couple of years have been enough.
I'm gonna go unbox this thing right now. I'll keep the clear plastic front from the box to make windows in my dioramas.
