Is that Hide?! Which version is he? Man, I'd have liked to own at least one but all Hidehs were so expensive. Not a fan of those eyebrows though, usually. But I like the pomegranate-shade-kinda hair.

I think it's Hide? I got him from a sample sale awhile ago.jahzteen wrote:Is that Hide?! Which version is he? Man, I'd have liked to own at least one but all Hidehs were so expensive. Not a fan of those eyebrows though, usually. But I like the pomegranate-shade-kinda hair.

Oh, that's fun! That's his original (insert decade here) outfit he's wearing, isn't it?
Did Allan run in to any other Barbie figures, vintage or current, at the showing?

That is his original 1964/1965 outfit! He even is wearing the cork sandals, which I was terrified of losing at the theater.davidd wrote:Oh, that's fun! That's his original (insert decade here) outfit he's wearing, isn't it?

We did not run into any other Barbie figures, but a Tianna joined our group.

Your retro Allan is awesome! I hope the film was worth going to see too!

And I bet most of our "vintage" childhood dolls are still in better shape than certain current dolls after just a few years.
I'M LOOKING AT YOUR PLASTIC, GROOVE!!!!
I came across a review at random, that absolutely savaged this movie.

The Barbie movie has surpassed a $700-million worldwide box office gross in its first week, and is forecast to exceed a billion by the end of the second week.
I am amused by the articles claiming that the Oppenheimer movie "is doing very well" but then they add a string of qualifiers to justify the numbers.
Barbie buried the boring atom bomb movie. So much for the Barbenheimer show-down.

This is so awesome. I like seeing the contrast between the two swimsuit barbies. I love that you can bring your passion for Dolls to work with you!

I love it that you created a Barbie display in conjunction with the movie!
I see your Classic Allen in there! And a Solo in the Spotlight on the second shelf: is she original or re-issue?
Who is the soldier? Is that Ken in military fatigues, or is that a GI Joe type figure?

Pretty neat that the library offers so many opportunities to display your dolls. Do you decide what gets displayed or do you have to propose the ideas to someone else?

Solo in the Spotlight is a repro. All my original childhood dolls are from the 60s and 70s. I don't have any original ponytail Barbies. I bought original Ken at a garage sale as a kid; my best friend Hillary's dog Boots chewed off his arm, so I put him in GI Joe fatigues and "he lost his arm in the war."
We have an informal schedule for the curio. Patrons can also sign up to put displays in there. I can't stand for it to sit empty (or to have the same thing in it for months), so if no one has signed up, I fill it.

Heckle (Edge) visits Lake Storey Park in Galesburg before my bird walk.

I am happy seeing that you take dollies with you on your outdoor adventures!
Or when you are... walking your birds? Are they rheas, emus, or ostriches?

When I lived in Rogers Park in Chicago, there was a small zoo nearby, and you could come across keepers out walking the llamas in the park.

I just love Heckle's blue tones. It's lovely taking dolls on adventures. Seeing someone walking llamas would be cool.

Logically, shouldn't an eBook convention be held virtually?

Giant screens! So it is like a virtual convention... only you're there in person!
Is this event for librarians, to help libraries adapt to the digital online age? Is it for eBook authors and publishers? Or is it to help print authors and publishers transition to digital media?
