March 2021 - Magical Girl or Boy Challenge

Welcome to the Dal House Forum, March 2021 - Magical Girl or Boy Challenge!

This should be a character of your own creation, not a standard Dal/Byul released version of one.  About Magical Girls in anime: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_girl#Concepts_and_themes

1. Take a photo of your Dal/Byul as they appear in their everyday life and attire.  Include their mascot/sidekick, if they have one, in it's everyday appearance.

2. Take a photo of your Dal/Byul transformed into a Magical Girl or Boy.  This should include them in any frilly outfit and fabulous hair, and any motifs/symbols that identify them.  Please include their mascot and any transformations for it, too.

3. What is your Magical Girl's or Boy's super powers? Do they use any incantation/spell/or other special words when in battle. Please describe with words.  A photo is optional but will earn you a bonus point.

4. It's fighting time! Who is your Magical Girl's or Boy's arch nemesis? Do they have a backstory, tell us about it. Take a photo of them engaged in battle.

Update: You can change wigs and edit in special effects if you'd like.

There are 4 themes and you have all month to do them, in whatever order you choose, although there is a progression to the themes.  You'll get one entry ticket for each one you complete plus.  At the end of the month, I'll put all the entries in a hat and draw 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  I'll be posting a photo of the prizes soon.

Usually, I try to make the challenges fairly easy. But I was feeling like it was time for something a little different. Hopefully, its not so challenging it scares everyone off.

I will send a newsletter about it, just haven't gotten around to it!

Perscita is a regular girl - or is she? She likes wearing a casual dress that shows off her tattoo and hanging out with her winged lizard friend.

Perscita has a couple of super powers. First off, she can fly when in her Magical Girl form! She can hover and is very maneuverable.

Those dragony elf ears are so cool!

The hovering pic is clever. Not sure how you accomplished that, so I'm going with the most logical explanation: magic!

Thanks! Myufish did her ears and lightly modified her faceup. I love her and she is so photogenic! And of course the hovering is magic!

This was an intriguing but challenging competition. It's hard to believe that an entire month flew by the way it has, at least for me. Busy, chaotic, occasionally discouraging – anyway, I had a brief flurry of enthusiasm for this challenge... but it was very brief, amounting to nothing. It looked like fun, and I was hoping to see more.

I don’t flake on a lot of challenges, but this one was a bit of a head scratcher [I did look at the link] and I have been completely swamped with work this month.

It's a weird time.
Kudos to CornflowerBlue for trying something new.

Like everyone else, my March has been hectic (and tiring), but this theme was so awesome I had to do something... so please accept my last-minute, poorly lit pictures and really random storyline...

Larue has the power of music. Her songs can soothe anyone, but beware... she can also sing her enemies into a stupor.

Larue's arch nemesis is Kendall the Sloth. Kendall may look sweet, but he's got an evil side, and he means to quiet Larue's song.

Things were not looking good at first. Despite Murgatroid's repeated attempts to bite Kendall's snout, he was getting the better of Larue.



But Larue persevered in the end, and everyone rejoiced!

Hooray! Another Magical Girl makes an appearance! It's a good thing LaRue and Murgatroid know how to handle that sloth.

I feel bad for picking a difficult theme.  So I will entertain you with a story.

Lissie is just your average, slightly grumpy, Dal in everyday life with her little pink bear friend.


Lissie transforms into the Magical Girl Pink Star and her little bear becomes Mega Grumpy Bear.


Lazlo, the evil vampire, is Pink Star's arch nemesis.


Lazlo: Pink Star, come over to the dark side and become my minion.  You know you can't resist my charms.
Pink Star: Not on your life, you evil vampire!
Mega Grumpy Bear: Grump, Grump!


Pink Star: Pink glow explosion!


Lazlo: Argh, the pink light, it burns!  It seems you've won again, Pink Star.


Pink Star: That was fun! You make a great arch nemesis.
Lazlo: Thanks!  Are you hungry?
Pink Star: You bet! Let's get some ice cream.


Mega Grumpy Bear: Wait, what happened to my part in this fight?

Haha, both entries were cute and funny.
If Mega Grumpy Bear is looking for a fight perhaps someone should introduce him to Kendall the Sloth.

Good job, dargosmydaddy and CornflowerBlue! You both put more work into your stories than I did.
