Such is the Internet! Too many temptations, not enough time!
Here's a single, informative link about Captain Action: https://www.toysyouhad.com/Captainaction.htm
The "feature" (or "gimmick") behind the Captain Action character and figure is that he was a master of disguise, and a variety of alternative costumes based on famous characters -- Batman, The Lone Ranger, Superman, and others -- were available.
The original Captain Action line did not last long, 1966-1968 or so. There have been at least two attempts to revive the line, one by Playing Mantis Toys circa 1998, which promptly fizzled, and another by Round2 Toys circa 2011-2013, which also failed. While a few collectors of a certain generation remember Captain Action with nostalgic fondness, the market for the character, then and now, has always been so small as to be economically unviable.
I assembled my version using a uniform and accessories from the 1998 re-issue (readily available on eBay), a body from Phicen/TBLeague, a head sculpt from a Zorro action figure from Triad Toys... and a cape from a Bratz doll. Cap didn't originally sport a cape, but I thought his ensemble might benefit from a splash of contrasting color.

Janie and Triv embark on a summer yard clean-up project.
What... if anything... will they accomplish?
Stay tuned!

Major cleanups are daunting. Maybe they just need a change of scene. Send them up here and they can have a go at my stuff instead.

Maybe they do deserve a good holiday, to an ocean, far away from tools and clutter.

Maybe we should just trade: my house for your house, my junk for your junk, my no-neighbors for your noisy neighbors.
But... I have a noisy highway that is a lot closer and a lot noisier than it appears in photos. It's hotter'n heck here so flowers don't grow. Wouldn't be fair.

I wonder if it's any worse than my noisy highway.
I'd take no-neighbours over the noisy ones any day.
But you doesn't haz an ocean.

There is no way I could do hotter than heck! I would melt into a burnt puddle. We also have a noisy highway next to us, they are planning in building a business park right outside our window. I'm protesting profusely, the patch of land they are calling wasteland, looks like a fairytale right now and at night it has its own owl! Stupid commercialism.

The US government sent tree-clearing crews through the public land behind the house a few years ago to cut down all the trees... which they claim... seriously... is to enhance wildlife habitat. As a result, the owls disappeared. As did the deer the tree-clearing was claimed to be enhancing the habitat for by creating more grazing land.

Nope. And a "river glimpse" isn't the same as being able to hear the surf at night.

Oh the drill is broken? They're always so busy working and fixing things, it's nice to rest and go on a vacation once in a while.
Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2023
What a shame about the “management“ of trees. I think some of the problems with wildlife management arise from compartmentalizing activities and species, and not accounting for the interconnections between all things.
… and of course, sometimes “science” leads people to do things they think make sense before said science is completely understood…
Cat, oh NO!! That sounds awful!! Wow, do I ever feel for you. Stuff like this, that changes your home forever, is so heartbreaking. Ask me how I know, sigh…
I sure hope you are not protesting this thing all alone – is there any neighbourhood group or effort?

I really like that 2nd shot where Janie is looking down at Triv. The angle is great. It's fun reading these little stories as they fix your house up, the empty pail seems like a great idea!

Well, the girls ain't sailors; they haven't quite got the coil-&-hang finessed. But it's a really good idea. I prefer not to leave my hose out in the sun at all, which is probably why it's as old as it is.
Fun action shots again.

It is a good idea! My hose is in the garage but for some reason will no longer stay on the faucet?!? It keeps popping off after the water starts flowing.

The "empty pail idea" looked nicer in the online article where I saw it, but they used a brand new metal pail and a painted post set in concrete in a perfect yard. A new metal pail would cost more than a hose hanger. At least this solution cost nothing: a pail found at the dump and some screws left over from another project.

And these pics are after re-rolling the hose two or three times! You'll have to show us how to do it. (We tried the "twist as you go" technique, but the hose is really kinked up and uncooperative.)

Sounds like either the threads in the hose connector are stripped, or the threads on the faucet are worn down.

"we're going to need another bucket"
Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2023
Heheh. I took pride in being one of the fastest coilers-&-hangers (hey, you gotta take credit where you can; I wasn't the best at much else!)... but it doesn't really work with hoses. I can see from the kink that is still in it that it is exactly the same kind that I have, POS Brand. The second one looks rather better and looks like one of my other ones.davidd wrote:

Eek, they're going to venture into the storage shed of doom????
Whoa, that is a lotta stuff. The girls need a biiig shovel and a bigger wheelbarrow. But hey, you could have a great campfire with it. I'll bring the marshmallows.

I have learned over the years that it is worthwhile investing in better quality hoses. However, whenever I have need of a hose, it seems that "budget" is what is within my budget.

Having had experience of getting off at the wrong bus stop (or ON the wrong bus...) I was not as ready-for-anything as she looks!
