Oh I thought I replied but I didn't hit send. The lighting in that last picture is really good, gives a lot of moody atmosphere

I can't believe I went there
.
One of the interactive photo-story games on one of the forums... a forum that usually tends to be rather tame... took a somewhat prurient turn, and I am ashamed to admit that I contributed to the crassness by offering an interpretation of the "Big Johnson" gag.
I was hoping to rein things in with a post that was in the spirit but somewhat more obliquely comical than the increasingly direct anatomical references. My effort failed.

Oh look how still and glassy the water is! I want to go for a swim!
P.s. a little smutty humour isn't always a bad thing

The actual surf was still somewhat rough, although there were kids playing in the waves. The water feels... not totally freezing cold. I've heard that the water can be almost too warm in the mid-summer months, but I've never been here in mid-summer.
Yes, a little bit of ribald or off-color humor can be amusing. But there's always someone lacking in subtlety who pushes things too far; and then somebody else sees "naughty words" and the floodgates open.

Diorama Work-in-Progress

This "relatively simple" work-in-progress dollhouse diorama featuring the Gloria Happy Hour Play Set in 1/6-scale fits on a shelf in the garage.
I see already that I shall need to fabricate a ceiling cover of some sort. Simple projects rarely remain simple.
Additionally, I neglected to check the camera lens for salt spray, hence the unintentionally diffused (aka blurry) appearance of this snapshot.

27 November - A Doll A Day 2023:
One of my Flickr contacts posted a photo yesterday afternoon of an action figure standing in front of a computer monitor on a messy desk. For laughs, I attempted to emulate his photo by standing one of my own figures in front of a computer monitor displaying an image of his photo.
As it was a rainy afternoon and apparently we both had some time available, this back-and-forth continued through a series of "infinitely regressing" images.
Similar concept to the "Pullip Train" and other photos-with-a-similar-item topics on the doll forums, only with the actual previous photo in the background.
Silly, but fun.

Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2023
Here is the latest update to the work-in-progress pub after adding some artificial foliage (Dollar Tree store - YAY!) and quickly stringing some neon EL wire after the mini string lights that I painstakingly built in to the bar stopped working.
.
.
And a reminder: there's plenty of time (not really) for y'all to get your pubs, clubs, bars, taverns, and other social establishments in shape for the upcoming One-Sixth Scale Holiday Pub Crawl!
Errr... you're aware of the Doll & Action Figure Holiday Pub Crawl, right?

I thought the infinite regeneration was a cool idea but its cool that it was between you and a friend. Your girls are always so well dressed but with a definite action adventure theme throughout.

Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2023
So do you have an invigorating daily dip in the nottotallyfreezing water? Love the low-tide pic.
Ceiling cover? Like stick some wallpaper on it? Or some foil for a "tin" ceiling? It needs a light fixture up there too, of course
How many iterations did the infinite regression go through? or is it still going?

What was fun is that it started spontaneously!

1. Does ankle-deep count as a "dip?"
2. Foil... that'd be quick and easy! And yeah, a light fixture is pretty much called for, in'nit?
3. Still going! Not as quickly, but still going!
TrueFan wrote:One sixth scale holiday pub crawl photos sound interesting!
You'll be there, then? I hope!
Actually, the miniature pub crawl was an idea that was raised mid-summer on one of the action figure forums when several people were talking about being in a creative slump. The idea was to "jump start" the creativity by providing a goal to work toward.

Love the big wide horizon that your Pinky perspective gives the photos.
And a Florida beach with nobody on it – looks great.
I was looking randomly at Florida housesits, but I probably won’t. Shot my plane ticket money going to Texas.

If you do find one, I hope it is in the Florida Keys. That's the place to be for warm weather, nice beaches, and... well, if you're rich.

I'm not seeing what's ill-advised...? I've stood on chairs or the table to change light bulbs...
Terns are different too. Ours are Arctic but you don't see them ashore.

4 December - A Doll A Day 2023:
Doll Boots
I paid actual money (twelve bucks!) to replace one set of plastic doll boots with another set of plastic doll boots. I'm feeling pretty stupid for having done so. I mean, what difference does it make?
The shiny ones were too tight to fit on the figure's feet, and too flimsy to support the figure when it was standing. The less shiny pair have slightly stiffer soles, although they're still not really adequate to provide good balance.
I gotta stop flushing money down the... drain... for stuff like this. I mean... I'm not really enjoying it anymore, I guess.

Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2023
If it makes you feel better, I've done similar. I've had a doll where I knew I was just not going to be happy until something got replaced. At least, 12 bucks is not so bad.
Re: davidd's A DOLL A DAY 2023
Yeah, given the price of a lot of doll clothes, $12 isn't awful. And hey, you don't have to pay 40% Canadian exchange!!
A knitting needle or chopstick strategically hidden behind a leg could make up for the inadequate balance.
I'm amazed that those stick things in the other bottles are still alive! Do you use rooting or growth hormones?

Ah the lure of doll clothes/shoes. I am finding myself often looking for a quick fix only to look online and think do I really need this? Impressed with your mangroves!

CatDragonStorm wrote:Ah the lure of doll clothes/shoes. I am finding myself often looking for a quick fix only to look online and think do I really need this?
That's what it often is for me -- looking for a "quick fix." Which can be a literal "fix" as in repair or upgrade, as was the case with the boots. Or a "fix" in the form of an "emotional boost" or "rush" that comes from buying something new and exciting. I have been trying to think in terms of "do I really need this," and the answer is usually "no," and where's the fun in that? I did actually kind of need the boots... seeing as how I'd already gone as far as I have with the figure. But... army man action figure boots? Three or four years ago I was getting entire figures with all their gear for twelve or fifteen dollars on eBay. Now shipping alone costs more than that for a figure.

Yeah, could be worse; I could live in Canada!
No rooting hormones. I just drop the "stick things" in a cup of water. Yasmin will show you and her friend Cloe what happens in today's photo:
