Two beach photos and the year has just started! I need to get outside soon it's been too much in the house time.

Oh I want to be on a beach! A warm beach!

Yes, let’s all converge on a warm beach …and stay there.

I'm still in favour of starting Doll Island! We could have our own laws on covid vaccines, and taxes and a ban on noisy inconsiderate neighbours and on Christmas we could all sit around carving pumpkins and exchanging Cheese calanders... I forgot what this had to do with dolls.

OMG yes please. I want to be a charter founding member!!

Well, everything, because when we're not carving pumpkins for Easter and making crafty things and communing with trees and eating cheese and torpedoing noisy people that approach the island... we'll be playing with dolls!!

Janey and Triv would have to supervise all the building of course, but we could have tiny doll Versions of all the establishments.

There was a time when this photo would have been unacceptable to me because I neglected to tighten up the gap at the waist where the upper torso connects to the legs. It was an oversight, and I am at present too lazy to set up another shot. I shall try to pay more attention to such details. I have fallen out of practice when it comes to photographing Pinky Street figures.

I didn't even notice, and it's a fun photo!

Edited because I first saw this on a teeny phone screen (I should stop trying to do doll forums on the phone) and thought it looked like she was wearing a shirt that wasn't tucked in. Duh, OK, now I see she has a bikini top so now I see what you mean.

They’re such cute little figures, and they look so tiny. I think it’s partly because, unlike the mini Pullips, their heads are in scale with their bodies.

I was too busy thinking she was standing in a banana peel to notice the gap. Guess who needs to adjust their screen brightness!

Well that makes 3 of us and guess who needs to look closer at the teeny phone screen. While I'm quite familiar with worn shells, I thought she was wearing a shirt.

Sounds like the preceding pic was something of a "Rorschach Test" more than it was a mere doll snapshot!

Doll-sized Jar

Only five days in, and I'm already posting pictures of Not-Really-A-Doll.

This little jar, or bottle, is an example of an "impulse buy," one of those "that looks cool" rather than "that's something I have a use for" moments of online idiocy. This miniature "rustic canteen" bottle was made by Hot Toys and was included in the "Fennec Shand" and "Cobb Vanth" Star Wars universe action figure releases.

I purchased the jar, or bottle, whatever it is, loose from an online seller, just because I liked the appearance.

I really wanna stop making imbecilic impulse purchases like this. (But I made the purchase before the end of last year, so this doesn't count as a "January" buy.)

I'm sure the bottle will find a place in one of your settings. It's a pretty blue.

She makes that stock look far more fetching than the taeyang does.

She looks like a rather sweet pirate. Still chuckling over Rumscupper; I think that makes a great pirate name. If I wasn’t already Bad Penny the Irish pirate with my costume, I might steal it

I was surprised the Captain Hook Taeyang stock fit a TBLeague female doll body as well as it did... except for the jacket. What's with the arms of the jacket? They are immensely long!

This was not what I had in mind for the costume... but I like it!

Nah... Taeyang Cap'n Hook is a swashbuckling man o' th' seas, a dashing and debonaire dandy with a hint of menace in his demeanor!

Perhaps you need another costume for another character! I'd forgotten your "pirate name." I believe you mentioned what it was several circumnavigations ago.

There's a ginormous Pirate Festival in Florida in late January called Gasparilla. I'm somewhat tempted to go, but Tampa is quite a long drive from where I am, the crowds number in the hundreds of thousands, and these days the best sections for viewing the parade are gated off and accessible only to those who purchase tickets. Tickets to see a parade -- a parade that has been going on for over a hundred years.

Gasparilla is a free community event, and there is no cost to attend. Ensure premium viewing and the best chance to grab your favorite beads with reserved seating at either Children’s Gasparilla or Gasparilla Pirate Fest.

The parade is usually televised. So that's the port where I'll be anchored: hove to in front of my remote viewing port.

Also... I don't (yet) have a pirate costume.

At close distances and with a plain background, the depth compression differences among the various focal lengths are not appreciable. There is a slightly apparent reduction in focus depth-of-field, even at f/11, at the longer focal length.

I was not using a tripod. so the experiment is not as entirely objective as it could have been. Next time, maybe.
