NECA "Svengoolie" miniature action figure.

Figure stands about 7 inches tall.

Svengoolie is a TV horror movie host. Syndicated nationally since 2011, Svengoolie has been doing his Saturday night hosting gig for nearly 50 years, originally as Son of Svengoolie after taking over from the original Svengoolie character.

WHY DID IT TAKE ME UNTIL LAST YEAR TO DISCOVER SVENGOOOOOLIEEEEEE!!!!
I feel like most of my life has been wasted never having seen this show!

I had heard of Svengoolie, but my understanding was that he was a "local" TV host only available in Illinois. How could I have missed out on the MeTV broadcasts that have been going on since 2011, nearly fifteen years?

Anyway, I saw a pic of this fig on Flickr a couple of weeks ago and had to have one.

I'm not really sure who Sven goolie is but I like his chicken- is a sentence I never thought I would say.

7-inch size figurine representing an early 1950s TV monster movie hostess. Vampira was loosely based on Morticia Addams from the Addams Family cartoons that appeared in magazines, a decade before the Addams Family became a TV series. Later horror film hostess Elvira is patterned after Vampira. Vampira pretty much set the stage for all TV horror movie hosts and hostesses who followed.

Ooooh, then we have a lot to thank her for! She's got attitude, I love the eyebrows!

I'm well aware of the existence of Svengoolie and I am from Illinois - but I've never watched him.

Perhaps if you incorporate them into your photostories you can get your photo featured on his show. (I did at least google... never heard of either of them)

I like smoothies... not with pickles though...

that's great, love all the details and even the clutter!

The clutter does make the picture look more realistic but your composition and use of the colour yellow definitely has my high-school art teacher jumping for joy. It really draws the eye around the picture.

I just said over on Dolly Market that the "clutter" makes the place look well lived-in and comfortable for the characters. And like they're real little people doing things and not staged "toys" -- always the goal for dolly pix with me

Very good point about the yellow bits.

Polyphœma Parker (aka Budget Beach Babe Poppy Parker) looks somewhat lonely sitting abandoned and forgotten in a half-finished diorama... which is where she's been languishing for the past two months or so. I should take her out for some adventures.

At first I thought the booth chairs were doll sized pianos. Poor Poppy definitely needs some adventures. The ceiling fan is a cool touch.

15 January - A Doll A Day 2024:


Just standing is a bit of an accomplishment. The "girl figure" pictured here has "attached feet," or as hobbyists call them, "floppy feet," and they are notoriously difficult to get to stand. This one has been standing like this, oblivious to the difficulty, for over a week now. Perhaps the conversation is particularly engaging.

The tips of the finger on the right hand are slightly in contact with the back of the yellow chair, which probably provides increased stability.
